Women are traditionally underrepresented in the world of marijuana, it’s known as the Grass Ceiling.
Forbes published a piece that estimated legal cannabis could potentially rake in $57 billion by 2030 in the U.S. alone. But, as the industry continues to expand, it appears women and minorities are still being excluded from positions of power by what is referred to as “the Grass Ceiling.”
Even in popular culture, in film, literature, advertisements and social media, the iconic “stoner” has always been portrayed by a male “hipster”.
Women stoners tend to be more low key and this is reflected in the current gender dynamic. But as we push to “Legalize It” worldwide it is time we adopt a more inclusive representation of cannabis culture by celebrating women and weed.
